Can I make my own Sniper button using built in software?

So I know mices like the Logitech G502 and Corsair M65 RGB have sniper buttons but I was wondering If I could "make" a sniper button. Using one of the side buttons with something like a Corsair Sabre or ROG Gladius lower my DPI.

Probably with some custom macro, but I haven't a clue how.

If it's a mechanical button (like the Endless scroll button on Logitech mice) then there's no way to program that. Otherwise it should be totally plausible, but the button has to input to Windows or OSX or Linux.
