Safe to buy a used SSD?

Senzelian

Hey guys.

I practically have to choose between a new 1TB Crucial BX100 for 349€ or a Samsung 850 Evo for 338€, which was around 20 hours in use.

So is it safe to buy a used SSD or should I go for the BX100?

Thanks !

A slightly used ssd shouldn't be an issue if the seller is trustworthy.

I've purchased a refurbished Sandisk 128gb for about $52, has been running beautifully since I've purchased it.

In theory, 20 hours usage should be o right. But then again ... I don't know, maybe it's just me. I don't usually like to purchase used stuff (for PC). Plus the difference in the pricing you quote, I might, just might lean towards the Crucial BX100 (plus it's 1TB).

I wouldn't. Not with an SSD. Then again, I'm pretty particular and won't buy storage or peripherals used.

Can you go MX? They're better quality drives.

Have you considered seeing if anything on eBay is going relatively cheap?

I purchased it in September of 2014, currently have it in my laptop (main system until I rebuild my desktop.)

They are both 1TB. I forgot to wright that.

And they are both from ebay. But the BX100 is already sold out now anyway. I'll get the Samsung.

I feel you bro. Yes. Samsung are awesome. Well, actually 850 EVO fixed the problem (I heard) that 840 EVO was having. So, at least you get the 850 EVO and not the 840 EVO.

They said they used it as a backup or something and that only once. I'll wipe the ssd anyway.

Edit: Btw, I ordered it already a few hours ago :P
