Front Panel USB 3.0 Ports Not Functioning Correctly?!

The front panel USB 3.0 ports on my CM Storm Enforcer do not seem to be functioning correctly. I have both the USB 3.0 controllers for Intel and Asmedia on my new Maximus VII Formula. I just uninstalled and updated both of them, but the two front ports will still not recognise anything.

I know they are working because when my Seagate Backup Plus was plugged in, the LED indicator lit up and the drive platter was actually moving (I could feel the vibrations). The Backup Plus could not be formatted or even seen in device manager. It worked fine before this. The USB 3.0 Header is securely in place on the appropriate connector, and the Header itself seems to be working, because it was successfully powering my external HDD. I have no idea why this is happening.

Heyyo,

Hmm, what are your UEFI settings set as for your front ports? Maybe check if it's setup for some odd mode like "legacy support" or what mode to detect drives as (IDE/AHCI)??? That could be causing you grief. Also try toggling any "USB 3.0 Turbo" settings on your front USB ports if the earlier suggestions don't work. Some USB 3.0 drivers are quite picky.

Just to double check on the drivers, are you using Windows 7? I'm pretty sure Windows 8.1 has built in support for USB 3.0 is why I ask where-as Windows 7 requires drivers.

Also, for USB drivers be sure to use the ones directly from Asus for this motherboard. On mine? If I used drivers from Intel it wouldn't work for me same with the other third party drivers.

If the external drive is being powered, that likely means there is nothing wrong with the front ports or internal header itself, right?

I browsed all Uefi options. Oddly, there does not appear to be any option related to front panel connectors for a Z97 ROG board. I reinstalled both the Asmedia and Intel 3.0 drivers from the Asus page for the Maximus VII Formula. I'm on Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).

The drive functions correctly when I plug into a rear USB 3.0 port. All the I/O ports are working correctly. The front USB 2.0 ports also work.

Also, the drive is not the only thing not being recognised. Nothing else seems to work. I could charge my iPad (Yes, I have one. I hate it) with the rear USB 3.0 ports but it would not work on the front USB 3.0 ports.
