How to print photos at home?

Go to solution Solved by paprikman,

So basically I wanna get into printing my own photos at home as I wanna frame them and hang them around my desk area, but I don't know what to have as the "starter" kit.

I do have a printer but I don't know if its suitable for photo printing.Do any of you have any knowledge on what to 'have'? I want to print 6x4 images and maybe bigger so I will be getting photo paper on whichever size I wanna print.

Do I need any specific photo papers? any specific printers?

Thanks alot,

Sean.

Yes, u should need a special photo parer (it comes as glossy or mate).

Also, getting a laser printer will result in larger costs, but the quality is nearly the same as if u'd use a simple "painting" printer.

Go this way: make a test image with all rainbow colors (u can find it in a web, for designers) and print it on any printer in the store. That's how u will find out the best quality.

A lot of photo printers have 4x6 slots for 4x6 paper.

I'd probably recommend a cannon printer. They seam to get the best overall reviews.

I don't know much about printing good prints at home. I generally use adoramapix.

thanks a lot for the quick replies guys!

I did some research and found out that my printer can do photo printing. It's a HP Deskjet 3050 J610 Series. Will be looking forward on experimenting with this :)

Thanks a lot again!

I can't recommend using an inkjet printer.

Often these pictures look too grainy.

I'd consider to order prints from a good lab the quality is far superior and the possibility to choose special paper like Kodak Endura Metallic and Fujiflex is nice to have.

If I'd need a picture within minutes I'd use an inkjet, though.

Epson and Canon have some semi pro photo printers. Illford, canon, epson, kodak and fujifilm make decent photo paper, tho they come with a price
