I'm looking to upgrade my Samsung 840 evo 120gb to a 250 or 512 GB.

Which one of these would you guys pick?

I'm looking for speed, reliability, and durability.

How are the SP900 and SP600?

Crucial MX200, or 850 EVO.

I was deciding between these 2 but went with the MX200, after the whole 840 EVO incident, with performance degradation.

And i would recommend a 500 / 512GB SSD. But if you can't quite stretch to afford those, a 250 / 256GB model would be the smallest i'd recommend.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

@Everyone else:

What's the difference between the BX100 and MX200? I've stuck with the samsung evos thus far because of the TLC memory seeming to last longer.

Sorry man I was under the impression your's was fine still.  My bad if yours has gone down hill I retract my statement and say mx200.  Personally I run the 500 evo but it is the only hard drive I have.  With the money I spent I likely would have only gotten a 120 and a caviar black WD.

850 evo - No need for anything larger than 120 if you're solely using it as OS/boot device like you should be.

Yeah I have a 1tb barricuda and a 3tb wd red already so I'm good for slower storage. Was just looking to replace my current SSD with something bigger so I can store a game or two on it - namely GTAV. My 120 840 evo will probably go in to my girlfriend's dad's old laptop.

Well I have heard good things about a lot of different ssd's.  Thing is with storage it has always been hit and miss.  You get a good one or you get a lemon and they quit when they want to.  mx200 and evo are good from what I hear.  Lots of people like the hyper x from kingston also.  My suggestion is find the best deal with those companies.  Crucial Kingston and Samsung.  Make sure the read/write speed are 500 or so and make a purchase.

I would choose the largest capacity of the 850 first then the MX200 then the BX100 and i would not even look at the rest.

http://www.ncix.com/detail/kingston-hyperx-fury-240gb-ssd-82-100152-1611.htm Good deal on the hyper x 500 read/write 240g plus ncix rewards.

Hope you dont mind I am looking around the old fashioned way and seeing what deals are on

How are kingston SSDs though? I have some bias against sandisk for no logical reason.

A friend of mine used to work in the local shop here and that is all he would recommend to people.  Other then that I have never personally owned one.  I have never heard any horror stories tho so no new is good new.   I am the same way which is why I went samsung.  Mostly because I wasn't sure which way to go.  Once again when I think about the difference in price range tho... Even if it doesn't work out at 100-150 it is a minor setback.  I think of all that video card money I could have saved on a something that will likely work just as well as the one I bought.  My brother got the same one as  me also at a deal.  250 after tax and shipping.  Makes me wish I would have waited.

Don't most SSDs carry a 3 year warranty nowadays? 3-5 years?

Money isn't a huge problem. An extra $10-40 for reliability/speed/durability seems okay but if I can avoid spending it then woohoo.

Yeah, I went samsung.  but for the extra 10 I cant guarantee you a better one.  It is one of those things.  Could be a lemon might not be a lemon kind of thing.  I have heard of all failing to a certain extent.  I think some of the better deals come from the lack of sales so they get overstock.

Not a huge ton, but I'd put mymoney into an 850 EVO personally. Better performance and NAND controller.

1. Overclock until the magic smoke comes out. 2. Modify until broken. 3. Fix and repeat.

Crucial is fine but EVO is there with price so I'd go with that.
