Hi Guys,

 

Can anyone suggest a sturdy but budget friendly tripod? I am going to buy the Velbon PH-368 Head, and would like it to fit on it... Ideally it will be better if it comes with no quick release mechanism. Because i am going to put the Velbon head on it. And quick releasing a tripod head is going to be a pain, especially if im going to switch it between my slider and tripod. If the center pole can extend up and down, that would be nice... Also, extending up and down must be fairly smooth....

That head is not good for video, it is designed with photos in mind. Here is a tripod that has a fluid head and is not too bad. How is that expensive? That is dirt cheap for video gear. Normally if you are not moving around much I would say Manfrotto 546B but you said cheap and that is cheap. I guess just but something for $20 and call it good then because cheap and super cheap gear are almost the same and only real difference is how much of a pain they are to use.

Ok, so do you think the velbon one isnt good??? I'm a 13 year old, and its just my hobby to do cool camera stuff, and I'm thinking of starting a YT channel, but that won't be for some time....

I have a very small budget, and the slider I want to get is already pushing it, it is the neewer 32" slider, and its about £50! Thoughts??? I want a head that will work with the slider and is fluid, but it needs a tripod anyway.... So I need a nice cheap, but sturdy tripod that does the job. The head is £30 and including a tripod I have a Max budget of £50! So absolute Max another £20. Ideally it should be around £15. Because I need a ball head as well....

So around that price range please suggest equipment!

Yes I want a slider, that one has good reviews. Also that is a little expensive, unless you can find a tripod for £5.... Total including good tripod £50. The velbon one looks good....

I just think you are better off investing in a better tripod and head than you are a slider - thats the point I was trying to make

No, my main need is a slider. Tripod isnt as important....

I have a tripod and its not terrible, just not fluid, I still need a head on the slider tho... People say its best to go for a ball head on a slider, do you know of any good cheap ones???

Yeah well when you are sliding you will not be panning and tilting the camera so a fluid head is a waste - you want the camera locked into position - almost anything would work

 

I recent just upgraded to the manfrotto mv500ah fluid head and stuck my old manfrotto head onto my slider and its fine

But if I want to do vertical or angled slides, I need a ball head.... The fluid head is for pans.

yeah soz, im just planning to film random crap, maybe make movies with my friends. Basically just B-Roll..... and a good tripod will be nice, just for putting the camera on it and sitting in front and talking....

ah ok I just know from my own experience filming my slider rarely gets used outside of product shots or specific planned shots

most cheap tripods with cranks are atrocious and super plasticity, heck my tripod was hundreds and does not have one, though most do let you raise the centre column!

 

again not sure whats good in that budget, perhaps the cheapest manfrotto tripod you can find they are generally well built and priced
