I assume that vram is ddr3 , but you could still get away with it . You might be able to run it at lowest setting at 1080p resolution but the frames won't be great

i would just go bare minimum and hope to hit constant 30.

It could be either GDDR5 or GDDR3.

CPU: Intel Core i5-5200U @ 2.2GHz

This CPU will limit you immensely. It is a low-power CPU not designed for gaming. GTA 5 gets bottlenecked on hexacore i7s.

Above you can see benchmarks for your card. The first one is GTA 5.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

What ? Luke's video on it shows that the fps difference between 8 core HT and 2 core non-HT was 5 fps

Heyyo,

w00t! mad respect for quoting a LTT video on the LTT forums! Post liked. :)

But seriously... people are all "ERMAHGERD MULTITHREADED UP THE YANG PLS AMD HAS 8 CORE CPUS AND NOW SO DOES INTEL!" yet there's only a handful of games that do multithreading properly... and if they do? They don't ever max out their loads on all cores... My guess is it's a limitation in Direct 3D API... hopefully one that DirectX 12 promises to relieve.

Also, we all remember the LTT vids of the Pentium Anniversary Edition CPUs that are dual core and overclocked like mad that can keep up with quad core CPUs. ;)

The GTX 950M will be the limiting factor of that notebook, but it'll still play GTA V comfortably. I could always fire up GTA V on my Alienware R14x and see what happens. It runs a "quad core no HT" Intel i7 (seriously, why the fuck doesn't Intel follow their naming scheme on their mobile CPUs as they do their Desktops?) and an NVIDIA GTX 650M... I bet even that will run GTA V decently. Just don't expect amazing visuals. It'll probably look like Xbox 360 visuals.

And I'm telling you that myself and various other people have noticed that in certain places in the game there is a distinct lack of a GPU bottleneck, especially with SLI, and the game seems to be using our CPUs quite a bit. I actually got no boost from OCing my GPUs in some areas of the game because I was CPU limited, but OCing my CPU and leaving my GPUs at stock did give me a little extra FPS.

Please note I did this on the fly with XTU and nVIdia Inspector while the game was in borderless windowed.

Take those "dual core vs quadcore/HT" videos with a grain of salt. I've seen a LOT of those videos in my time and even more people who simply play have noticed the opposite of them in many cases.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

So reading all of your comments, I want to say something.

Based on these posts I think I can play this game on Medium settings on 1080p, since High will get me around 30fps average.

I was not expecting to play at very high, since this is a laptop of 900EUR, this was the most value laptop that I could get, Since all the other options had i5's with GTX800M Series and no SSD,

I went for the overall faster experience than the full power gaming rig. Since gaming is only a side-note. This will also be the laptop for school stuff, and I had to keep it within a reasonable price range. And maybe Rockstar will push an update someday that will kind of boost Hyperthreading, that's all unknown for now. But I think this is kind of a value Laptop, Since the screen is LED IPS.

And it's fairly thin. So I want to thank you all for your responses. You guys are a really helpfull community, and I'm really glad that I can fall back to this place when I lack the knowledge for my issues.

Thanks again, and till we meet again :)
