So I opened up the family pc and I noticed something really wierd on the motherboard.

 

It was a battery, just mounted onto the motherboard like it was just welcome there!

 

I have seen it on other boards but never actually been able to physically touch it.

 

It's some old Gigabyte board for anyone who is wondering. Not sure about model.

Does the CMOS battery do anything else? Like, would anything besides the date and time be disturbed if you were to remove it?

My guess is that it's probably possessed by some satanic demon or something xD

 

Try preforming an exorcism on it, or perhaps just leave it so your date and times don't get messed up from the lack of a cmos battery. (that is, if you remove it)

You would also lose any saved settings in the BIOS. I.E. Overclocks.
