970 vs 770 4gb classified

My older brother says that a 970 is only like 5-10% better than a geforce gtx 770 with 4gb of vram basically claiming the 970 is not really good (he is just mad because i have one and he does not) I guess he thinks that they have the same chip with different amounts of ram... idk

 

Wouldn't a evga geforce gtx 970 ftw crush a evga geforce gtx  770 classified with 4gb of ram?

Basically what @Swndlr said and the fact that they are completely different chips running different architectures (770=Kepler, 970=Maxwell) but you probably already knew that
