Sound blaster Z vs Sound blaster Omni

Go to solution Solved by SSL,

Ok when would I need to bother just curious?

If the magic smoke comes out of your motherboard's audio chip.

Like the title says. My headset is a HyperX cloud 1 speakers are creative labs t15. Will I benefit in gaming such as hearing gun shots clearer is it even worth it. I'm not an audiophile.

In the meanwhile, if you're aching to do something, try some simpler and cheaper stuffs. This is what I found worked with my pc and amp/dac:

- make sure they're properly grounded. If you're in US, perhaps this is not a problem (I'm not familiar with US' main power line setup), but for me, this was a problem. I plugged my PC to my UPS, and all this time I didn't realize the plug is missing a ground pole. A testpen would lit when touched with the PC's casing. Not enough to shock me, but still not properly grounded.

- try installing an RFI/EMI filter. Just get one on ebay, it's around $10 or something. Just make sure it can handle the correct current (ampere)

- try installing ferrite beads to the power cable. It's dirt cheap, and so cheap that even if it turns out changing nothing, you'll only waste 1x hotdog money at the most

*number 1 and 2 deal with real main power line electricity. If you're not sure what you're doing, best to get someone who does to do the job.
