I'm guessing you want a 1080p screen, but what size monitor are you looking for? And does IPS matter to you (For better colour accuracy and viewing angles, but with a slower response time)? Or is a TN panel fine (Cheaper and quicker response times)?

the cheapest monitor anyone should spend money on - i believe is the lg 29um67 - its 270 british pounds tho

so, dunno... skip happy meals, save up and get that to actually enjoy yourself, or get a random 60hz TN garbage and basically throw money down the drain

thats just my 2c

£270 the cheapest? O.o

I got this a while back http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-MX239H-LED-backlit-Monitor-80000000/dp/B00A4K9KVG

Only £170, 100 pounds cheaper, has an AH-IPS (Advance High performance) the colour is beyond amazing, 5ms response times so avg for an IPS, and that frameless design...

You don't need to spend extra money on a ultra wide screen to make it worth the spend

You dont NEED to do any of this.

But an 75hz IPS 21:9 with freesync is lightyears better in price/performance ratio than any 16:9 60hz screen

Not if his hardware wont get any additional use out of it, say he has an nvidia card freesync will be meaningless for him, then the 21:9 is the only real benefit in that case, which imo isn't a better price/performance for £100 unless he would gain some benefit from the additional workspace from the extra width.

Please forgive me, but thats retarded.

People keep monitors for WAY longer than video cards. The suggestion to throw away money on a shit monitor and then pay again for a good monitor later when you have upgraded the video card is the stupidest thing ever.

Really, dont take no offence, man... this misconception wasnt started by you, i know.

But anyone who has been doing this for a bunch of years knows that you always get the best monitor you can first, even if you are on integrated graphics.

Yeah you're right, that does make sense.

Although I would go for a 1440p screen over an ultra wide 1080p in that case, as GPUs are becoming able to handle 2k resolutions more and more now a days.

You could get a good 24" IPS 1440p monitor for around the same price as the lg 29um67

As long as its IPS or VA its good      ...cuz TN really is garbage

Im just recommending the 29um67 because its the cheapest IPS that has some kind of variable refresh rate. +its 75hz and 21:9

... and 21:9 gaming is godlike, its like rediscovering gaming all over again; same with variable refresh rate.

The BenQ GL2460 HM  is available for 153 on Amazon. It's TN (which honestly isn't THAT bad) and also 60hz. If you're willing to spend a little bit more the BenQ 2455HM is also good. However if you want anything more than 60hz or IPS for better colors, you're going to have to spend more than 150$.
