Would not recommend alienware laptops, or anything from them really.

Their laptops are bulky, overpriced, unbalanced, and the qc isn't all that great, you'd be better off going with something from asus, gigabyte/aorus, sager/clevo, or msi.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

If we're talking about their desktop, yes, i agree that they're overpriced.

But, when it comes to laptop. I think they did a quite good job.

I have a quite good gaming rig and a gaming laptop which is MSi Ghost Pro 2QE with 3K display. To be honest, i almost bought alienware 13 because it has a very good built quality. But that 860M hold me back (at that time, they dont have 900M series option yet)

And then i bought The Ghost Pro.

Yes it's a better laptop (because it's more expensive), but when we're talking about built quality, alienware is almost the same as macbook but with a different market and purpose.

They have a very good built quality with fancy materials. Yes it's a bit balky compares to MSi, but again, it's a gaming laptop. U need that thickness very much. My MSi has a cheaper material but thinner and it's DAMN HOT and DAMN NOISY during playing games.

I've tried alienware 13 before and fell in love with it. It's cooler, more silent, and the material gave me very good feels when i use it.

But, i need that 970M very much for my works and gaming needs.

So, my suggestion is, if that 960M is enough for u, go for it. It's a good deal. And their IPS display (since they're dell) are good! I love dell monitors, i have one as my dialy monitor.

Their keyboard is great

Their Rubber surface is great

And u'll have a good rigidity. U won't hear any strange sounds (like "crack") while holding it.

FYI, i'm not an alienware fanboy. I just want a good product.

Many people say it is overpriced, but is not that bad, try to get a quad core if possible in your budget

My Cheap But Good Rig: I7-3770s, Intel Motherboard (actually made by intel), 16gb DDR3, Nvidia Gtx 1070, 250gb Samsung 850 EVO SSD, 750gb HDD, Evga 500 BR power supply

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

First one is an 870M, and the rest are all incredibly bare bones

They're barebones, but he has budget flex to add things, like a small SSD etc.
