I Prefer 30FPS over 60FPS?

Lolzious

So.. I have a confession to make... 30 frames per second just.. looks better. It does, in my opinion, look more cinematic. Whenever I'm playing, say, GTA 5, and my game jumps to 60+ FPS, I think it looks terrible... really fake, I guess.

Sometimes I find myself locking my game to 30fps, or turning settings up to acheive lower frame rates.

I've tried setting my monitor to 24hz, but that's un-playable to me.. Yet 30fps is amazing.. O.o

Maybe I should sell my PC and get a PS4/XBONE?

No fucking way. PC MASTER RACE!

Anyways, is this weird? Does anyone else feel this way?

I thought the GTA trailer looked like "It was moving too fast" or something like that.

I guess that was just because I played it on console. It looks better in 60fps while playing though

When I started playing PC I thought 60fps was too smooth and silky. You get used too it for the most part

Long time console player prior?

Eh, had a 360 for like 8 months, but I didn't play much.

My CPU can barely crawl over 20fps at 1080p in most games.. Getting an i3 soon :P

I 100% agree. 30 fps in 4k that is.  ;)

I'd still take 60fps/1080p over 30fps/4k

60+ fps is an absolute requirement for me. If a game is locked at 30, unless it's like an extremely... simple game with no action, then I will not touch it.

Fraamerate > resolution for me , any day of the week.

I need a smooth framerate or I will go crazy.

Smooth framerate = silk boxers

30 fps = sandpaper briefs

Maybe what you really don't like is the inconsistent framerate. I.e.the jumping between 30 to 60.

A consistent 30 is playable for me, but not as good as a consistent 60. With a consistent 60 you feel better response as your controller inputs are more quickly reflected on screen.

It does indeed look more cinematic, but it feels worse when playing.

 60Hz+ everyday.

144Hz goodness

I couldn't play the game on console because of the frame rate :P

Anything under 30 fps gives me headaches (aside from movies)

I prefer motion in games to look like real life motion, so more fps = more betterness, personally.

For GTA though, I find that 45 fps is also very playable. I hate the stuttering though. Very annoying.

You like having a lot of input lag as well? because it's not all about how it looks.

I prefer 30fps on my system too for a lot of games.  However that is both because I'm okay with 30, and mostly because small dips from 60 to 55-58 make for a far worse experience than any other range.  For this system(I'm guessing based on experience) in the 55-58 range things do not mesh/sync well with the monitor to the point where it hurts my eyes and quickly furnishes me with a headache.  Feels like a my eyes can't focus or like I'm seeing 2 different things in each eye.  Even if I'm not moving around and just displaying a static view, I can't look at it for long before having to stop.  And I can't tell you why, it doesn't appear to be tearing, stuttering/juttering; it is just transmitting imperceptible electromagnetic pain.
