what steps to take after a fresh cmos reset? MSI 970 gaming mobo

Go to solution Solved by TheRetiredSlave,

by clock settings, do you mean it has to be all at 00.00?

I meant time clock. The time should be set to whatever time it actually is.

MSI 970 gaming mob, I recently performed a bios update and I reset the cmos, afterwards i go into bios to check settings, what steps do i take next? do i load defaults and save or can i just exit w/o saving? anyone w/ a current MSI board know what do after a fresh cmos clear?

Check the clock (time clock) setting. If the clock is off, it usually confuses windows as to what time it actually is.

Make sure your boot order is correct and settings regarding bootup are correct.

If your CPU or RAM is overclocked, you'll need to check their settings to make sure they're correct.

If you had changed anything else when you built your PC, you should check to make sure it's correct.

If everything is correct, you should be able to just exit and go.
