Fx 8320/8320e for GTA V?

gojira
Go to solution Solved by Atmos,

the 8350 i know performs quite well in the game. Though, at stock speeds it starts to get some stuttering in huge fights and in the middle of the city at sunset with tons of things happening. Once you overclock it a bit all that goes away.

That being, the 8320 will do just about the same once overclocked. It's not bad for gaming, but there are a couple other options out there, you just sacrifice a lot of multitasking. I.e. the 8350 performs almost 43% faster when using all 8 cores than a similarly price 4460.

Anyone have any experience with the FX 8320/8320e with GTA V? If so, how does it perform? Considering getting either one because of the core count and wattage but not sure..

It works fine, but you should probably get an i5 instead.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

For GTA V, just get an i3 4340 instead if your worried about spending to much but want to still upgrade.

Appreciate the more elaborate response. I'll probably try to narrow down the 8350 and some other similiar processor. Thanks a whole lot

8320e is not a good CPU unless you plan to OC it to 4.5 Ghz at least. If you don't, get the 8320.

BUT like the users above said, it's better to invest into an i5, even an i3, for GTA.

GTA 5 is one of the cases where a 8320 beats a i3......GTA 5 uses all cores.

surprisingly, this is actually quite right.

Gta 5 uses almost every thread you can throw at it, easily chomping through 8 thread cpus, and even kind of decently well on 12 thread cpus. the game is remarkably well optimized for multicore setups, just a little more evidence that games are using more and more cores as times goes on. Great for people like me who like their cores!

I have the Fx-8320 at stock clocks with a gtx 970. I'm getting a steady 60fps at 1080p on very high-high settings with fps dipping to the 50s occasionally, but no stutter. All 8 cores are being used up with their usage not going below 70%.

Rockstar's latest patch has decreased the performance but that will hopefully be fixed in the next patch.
