Difference between motherboards. GA-Z97X-Gaming 3/5/7 (Also, is it a good motherboard?)

Does anyone know why the GA-Z97X-Gaming 3/5/7 cost so different with the same specs? Am I missing something? I'm really confused.

Looks and a few features. I have the Gaming 5, and I'm happy with it. Works great, looks nice, and the BIOS is pretty easy to do stuff with. Fan control leaves a little to be desired though.

What do you desire? What's missing?

Mainly better fan control and more fan headers. And another USB 2.0 header wouldn't hurt.

Woot woot, Z97X-SOC with 9 fan headers (which doesn't matter too much since the control is a bit lacking).

But for real, I have a MATX gaming 5 in a system and it's running great. The gaming series as a whole is solid.

Cinders: - i7 4790K (4.5GHz) - Gigabyte Z97X-SOC - 16GB Klevv DDR3 1600MHz - EVGA GTX 980Ti ACX2.0+ (1548MHz Boost) - EVGA Supernova 850GS - NZXT H440 Orange/Black (Modified) -
Unnamed System: i5 4690K (4.2GHz) - MSI Z97I-AC - 8GB G.Skill DDR3 2400MHz - EVGA GTX 950 SSC - Raidmax Thunder V2 535W - Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX

I just picked up the Gaming 5, should be a pretty good board for the price

From what I can tell the Gaming 5 has better capacitors, larger VRM heatsinks and gold plated audio connectors. The Gaming 7 has the same only with a POST LED and on-board on/off switch.
