Matias Keyswitches, a worthy Cherry alternative?

So, most of you know the glorys of a mechanical keyboard. They are just so much nicer to use than membrane keyboard.

However, most of the people here only know or have Cherry keyboards, dismissing the others. Sure, some other keyswitches are basically cherry clones, and are just cheaper versions, made in china.

There are other makers, who make keyswitches, that are not just Cherry clones, but a new thing within itself.

The main makers are Topre, and Matias.

In this review, ill be taking a look at the Matias click, and quiet click switches, clones of the discontinued Alps SKBM White and Alps SKBM Black respectively.

The keyswitch housing are clear, unlike the older Alps counterparts.

This allows LED's to be placed under the switch, as there is no hole for an LED.

Now the main part of this is the feel and the sound.

The Matias Click switches are very satisfyingly clicky.

I dare say, they are more clicky and satisfying than cherry MX blues. They are not quiet as clicky as clasic IBM model M bucking prings though.

The Matias Quiet Click switches feel very similar to my Apple Adjustable Keyboard, using Alps SKFS. I feel they are more satisfying feeling than MX browns, and still relatively quiet.

Overall, I enjoy the Matias switches more than their Cherry MX counterparts, and I feel i get a much nicer feel and sound.

Now, and audio recording, so you can listen for yourself.

Any cherry forks (remakes) are shit switches. Just all of them.

Also, I don't understand those clicky switches - even brown are quiet yet tactile...

When something emmits sound, it means that any sort of energy (pressing keys - mechanical energy) is being converted into a sound wave (vibrations), thus u waste your energy for nothing (just for the sound). And if u waste energy, u need to get it from food, which u get for your money = clicky switches're wasting your money. Profit.

Are you saying these are cherry remakes?

Well, some people like clickyness, thats why people still love the IBM Model M. Clickyness.

I still need to get ahold of some Matias or original ALPS.  Liked the review!  I can say after trying Topre I personally barely enjoy Cherry switches now, so I can guess for clickyness and the feel just by geekhack conversation of alps--I am sure ALPS / Matias would do the same, but not to the Topre, just giving more enjoyment over Cherry.

I personaly use an Apple Adjustable Keyboard, i really love it.

If it ever dies, ill get the Matias Ergo Pro, seems verry similar.
