That's a good one.

#1- Dude, just buy a Z97 board...

#2- This just means that the drive bays that are at the same level as your GPU won't be usable.

You want a z97 chipset motherboard, not z87. Don't worry about the drive bay one though. You wont be using the extra ones anyway.

The bit about the video card conflict simply means that the drive cages are in the way, and you'll have to remove at least one cage in order to use the listed graphics card.

As for the CPU/motherboard bit, you have three options:

 - Change the CPU to something that works with a Z87 chipset.

 - Change the motherboard to something that works with an updated Haswell chip.

 - Update the BIOS to accommodate the chip.

The last option listed isn't difficult, thanks to the USB BIOS Flashback. Just make sure you check the manual on how to get the BIOS set up properly on your USB stick and go from there. Then you should be able to install your CPU with no problem.

No, you don't have to buy anything, unless you don't have a USB key already. They go by other names too, like thumb drives. They're basically small hard drives maybe an inch or so long that plug into your computer via a USB port. Just go to the Asus website, find your board, download the BIOS update, and use the USB BIOS Flashback feature (there's special ports for it) to update your BIOS so you can use your new CPU. You don't even need your CPU or RAM installed to do it.

As for other CPUs, you're probably just looking for ones that are Haswell, not Haswell Refresh on pcpartpicker's list. Try those and you should be good to go.
