MSI Z97 PC Mate stuck updating

So I was going to update my bios to fix an issue I had with over clocking but the progress got stuck at 18%.

WTF should I do?

You better pray that your motherboard has a dual bios.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

Nope it does not and the warranty has been already used

Then wait and pray to all the gods that have ever been (or not, your choice) that it finishes sometime soon. If you remove the flash drive or the power goes out while flashing the bios your motherboard is bricked.

I'll leave it there all night if I have to, but it's been there for 30 min

How about if you redownload the BIOS Update again? Then try to reupdate your BIOS?

If something ends up happening to brick your board, talk to MSI. You may be out of warranty but if you explain what happened they may give you a new board or a discount on a replacement. In my experience (though none has been with MSI so this may not apply) major tech companies take customer satisfaction very seriously.

Somehow yes and I applied a over clock, it's seemed to only be in the verification stage

You are incredibly lucky. I would still report this to MSI though, if only so they can fix any potential problems that caused it and prevent others from suffering the panic you had.

Side question: can I keep you as a good luck charm? (just joking)

Well, I hope everything else goes smoothly for you. Happy overclocking!
