Worth upgrading i3?

Hi, have a question here..

Currently gaming on an Sandy Bridge I3 2100. It could handle all games that i throw at it. Im looking to upgrade my cpu to haswell. My question is, would an upgrade to I3 4160 bring a big differences in gaming performance? I do not have much budget to go for an I5. So will an I3 4160 or AMD FX6300 bring a huge difference to my gaming performance in the future?

Hoping for your replies. Thank you..

I wouldnt buy anything until you can get a quad core. dual cores are dead to me unless they are stepping stones. see if you can find a used 2600k

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

I'd prefer you getting an i5 instead, it's quad core we know that. But some games can't be played with dual core CPU, even with Hyper-Threading one, getting an i5 should give you more boost. I don't suggest getting FX CPUs for gaming, they have weak cores although many, games prefer strong cores over more cores.

@nabil87 : Best choice is the I5 , you can save more money to get it . But on the other hand , the I3 is not to be taken lightly . It can perform outstandingly , for now atleast . Your choice , but considering DX 12 is around the corner and if the rumours are true then you will benefit much more from your i5 . But for now , they are relatively the same performance .

What motherboard do you currently have?  If anything, you might be best suited buying an i5/i7 that is compatible with your current mobo.  Generational improvements are minimal, and seeing as you already have a motherboard, you can drop in a sandy bridge i5 and be just fine, even if you cannot OC.
