1: This is in the wrong topic. This is for posting how-to tutorials, not asking for them.

2: Make sure you follow your own posts.

3: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/a-data-internal-hard-drive-asp600s3256gmcCheapest ~256GB drive in the US right now.

4: Just make sure you buy the right version of DDR SDRAM. So if it's DDR2, get another stick of that. (You can find that out by Googling the brand and model number on the RAM stick.)

OS migration: Can be difficult on a laptop. You might try cloning your C: drive over to an external HDD (the content of the drive will be erased.) then clone the external HDD to the new SSD. Probably better ways to do that, but that's what I thought of off-hand.

Edit: Might I ask the laptop's specs or model number?

Spoiler

CPU: AMD 5800X

GPU: Gigabyte Aorus 3070 Ti

SSD: WD SN850X 4TB x2

MoBo: Gigabyte Aorus Master B550

Case: Fractal Torrent

PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750W

Well, if you get DDR2, but your laptop uses DDR3, you'll have essentially wasted your money. However, I'd also like to mention that your laptop isn't particularly that old. I'd suggest maybe just doing a manual defrag and using something like CCleaner to clean up the registry. Also maybe go through your installed programs to make sure no sneaky crap-ware is laying around. I mean, upgrading to 8GB is certainly worth it, but your stuttering shouldn't be happening in a laptop that isn't so old.
