Comcast officially gives up on Time Warner Cable merger.

It's official, Comcast is giving up on the TWC merger. For now, at least. Comcast CEO Brian L. Roberts stated:

Today, we move on.  Of course, we would have liked to bring our great products to new cities, but we structured this deal so that if the government didn’t agree, we could walk away.

 

Things were not looking good for Comcast due to all the opposition they faced so they decided to back out.

 

As Marta Tellado, CEO of Consumer Reports said:

Comcast never was able to make a convincing case for why the merger would benefit anyone other than Comcast.

 

This is great news and another great achievement in the battle for net neutrality. Our complaints have been heard!

This is great and everything, but nothing has changed. I will have not be happy when I actually have an option for my ISP. We need competition, and we need it soon.
