laptop with APU

randy hutajulu

i have a quite nice gaming rig and laptop

Now i'm using Msi Ghost Pro 2QE for mobile gaming and working. But, to be honest, it's not that "mobile" it's quite large and have an "almost laptop size" charger (damn)

And a "please don't ask" battery life time.

Is there any option exist for a compact laptop with a quite nice APU on it and doesn't cost too much?

At least i can play games such as dota 2 on medium setting.

Maybe with 13 inch 1080p display at least?

Hhmmm.. Maybe around 800-1000$

Omen is quite expensive since i've already had ghost pro

But, it will be nicer if it cost less than 800$

And, acer nitro is also as big as my laptop

I use a Clevo W110er, 11.6" with a 650m :D my little gaming netbook :D

There are others but they are more expensive, could sell the ghost pro and get a new super thin light 13" size

I think i can't sell my ghost pro buddy. It's quite powerful for a laptop and i need it so much for my works.

But, it will be nice if i have another laptop just for doing some overseas presentation duty.

At least i have something to do in hotel hahaha..

Maybe something with like Intel hd 5000 graphics? My MacBook air can run LoL at medium with them and I think data isn't too much more intense with graphics. It would just be if you can't find something with a dGPU. My friend has a a10 5000 series APU and it works about the same as my MacBook for gaming

G3258 @ 4.5 | 8GB Team Vulcan RAM | 128GB Kingston V300 SSD (I didn't know what I was doing when I bought it) | MSI H81I Motherboard | Corsair H55 with Noctua NF-P12 | EVGA SSC GTX 960 4GB | OCZ 550W Fully Modular PSU with Noctua NF-A14 | Cooler Master Elite 130 (Soon to be something cool)

Actually, I'd probably look towards something with a dGPU if you have that much to spend. Something that looks good to me is the Lenovo Y410. It's slightly older but it would do good for you and you can probably find it for relatively cheap.

Hhmm.. That's too balky sir. My ghost pro is even slimmer than that.

The reason why i'm not looking for laptop with dedicated GPU is they're big. No option for 13 inch.

Im looking for a 13 or 12 inch laptop with "ultrabook like" that really mobile. Is there any option with APU?

Carrizo is coming sometime later this year (possibly Computex). If you're looking for an APU that's what I would be waiting for. It offers equivalent performance of the desktop A10-7850k. With the CPU being a bit weaker due to clocks. Although it's a big step in power efficiency.

Ouw.. That's interesting

I'm curious, how APU performs against intel HD? Which one is better?

Right now AMD has the fastest integrated graphics. Skylake will likely change that although will be priced 3x higher.

Is there any laptop that has the same APU (same spec) as PS4 or XboxOne?

AMD hasn't built a consumer APU that big (yet). Right now they all top out at 512 steams.

Kaveri is 8 compute units and Carrizo will be 8 compute units. We still don't know what architecture revision is being used inside Carrizo though. Speculation has it that it will be a Volcanic Island variant.

You'd probably be better off buying a laptop that has a dedicated GPU as the Kaveri based FX laptops are quite expensive. It all boils down to what you're looking to spend.
