Could you elaborate a little bit? If you doubt my statement, then all I can really say is what I said before. From what I've seen, the build quality of their devices seems pretty nice. Not premium, but about as good as you can get for the price range of their devices. My keyboard is one of the more rugged keyboards I've seen, with almost no flex. My brothers Naga feels more than premium considering we got it for $35-40. These headphones don't have the best build quality, but they hold up well. Much better than my Pioneers. I know Razer seems like an over-price, over-hyped brand, and they certainly can be, but I feel they can be like the Apple of peripherals. You may not pay an assload of money for the best, but you pay for (more or less) quality, and a name. I like their products. You don't have to, but I choose to.

Well, there are a lot of reports of Razer products breaking/malfunctioning, sure other products do this but when I see threads popping up saying about moving from Razer to another brand because their product "broke" or "stopped working" makes me skeptical about how well their products are made.

Yeah, Logitech aren't great at keeping their products working for over a few years for example people with the G930 headset have problems (not my self but have seen numerous things) and to be honest the "7.1 surround sound" which is USB emulated is just.... shit. Yeah there is cracks and pops when there is base "7.1 mode" but every product has its faults. ~ However, with Logitech this is just a few products and with Razer it sounds like a lot of their products break/malfunction. That is what made me disagree with the comment of "Overall, I’ve noticed that Razer seems to have some pretty nice build quality for their devices."

Respectfully, I'm marking your feedback as null and void as you don't appear to have personal experience with their products (correct me if I'm wrong, and experience being classified as owning for a fair amount of time). I personally love them, never had an issue. I also didn't get the USB 7.1 Channel Pros, these are the analog stereo model, as my link and review states. I don't mess with artificial surround, I think it sounds like shit.

As far as their products breaking or malfunctioning, I've had this more from Logitech than anybody. Every Logitech mouse I've had, aside from 2, malfunctioned in some way or broke completely within 2 years. The only products I've had longer are my G700 and G700 (only had for about 3 months though). The Razer products I've owned, friends have owned, and family had owned have all functioned flawlessly. I'll continue to like their products until they break for me. Working on retail had shown me that hundreds of people will have widely varying opinions and experience with companies and products. And I choose to believe that Razer shows up in you're reports most often because they are a much more well known name/brand.

EDIT: Looks like you might have been referencing your Logitech headphones for the 7.1 USB aspect of your post. My statement remains mostly relevant still.

Agreed, sorry about getting fired up, btw. A majority of that was typed up yesterday during a rather poor day at work..

Cool review.

I got a set of these in blue for my Mum (World of Tanks) and she says she can hear things she couldn't before, so she is sold on em,.. so there is that....

I immediately noticed the overly bass heavy nature compared to other cans I have around the house, but she likes/prefers low-volume bass heavy headphones so she's keeping them.

Decent for non-audiophiles and as said in the review, may need tweaking of an EQ for the best audio experience on YOUR ears.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

As for the people who say they're uncomfortable, as much as I wouldn't really known as I never owned a razer headset in specific, as far as I know their producs are geared towards smaller people (I am only like 14 and small af and I can palm most of their mice no problem). I could be wrong though, thats from personal expirience.

Newer logitech headsets have pretty crappy build quality imo, my g430's microphone snapped right off from regular/mild use. I never really moved it much or hit it against anything either. And now its just a wire with the half of a plastic mic shell over it. Atleast it still works. My G430's also feel rather flimsy and as much as the wires are cool, they're too fucking long and once you get a few knots in it from regular use, it perma-kinks the wire so you have this twisty kink in the wire permanently.

I hated my Kraken Pros. Extremely uncomfortable, questionable build quality, and bad audio quality. Glad I switched to my Sennheiser HD 558s and desktop mic.

Nice review/impression of the Kraken Pro, though admittedly, not at all a fan of Razer product......disliked their Kailh Razer switch mech keyboards, and their headsets. Auditioned the Kraken Forged Ed and tried so hard to like it because it looked awesome (would have like to add it to my collection of cans), but the signature sound was pretty hard for me to accept. Also had a Razer Black Shark because a member here wrote a glowing review of it, again, the signature sound (recessed mids, very, VERY heavy bass) was simply hard to swallow. It does look good though, so from these two tries, I came to the conclusion that Razer headsets' all about form, lacking somewhat in function. If you're into the Beats signature sound, then perhaps Razer headsets are for you. I've since moved on from Razer, bought a HX Cloud (like it even now despite having a good number of audiophile grade cans) and audiophile level cans.......never looked back since.

  • 2 weeks later...

Only complaint was when you first get them or put them on it fills like its squeezing your head. After about 2 weeks this went away and they finally broke into my head size. Sadly just a few days ago pi ran over the cord and sliced it open so im gonna try out the HyperX Cloud 1s, not The 2s because from I've head it's not worth the extra money

First off, well done review, would've liked a bit more visuals, but it's still a good read. I don't question your commentary, just giving personal insight.

As someone who has a huge issue with headsets in terms of comfort (cannot stand round ear cups and pretty much everything on-ear without being in pain after a couple of minutes), I have to say gaming headsets are easily among the most uncomfortable, tasteless looking, booming sound, overpriced pieces of peripherals out there. Razer is in the exact same category with Turtle Beach, Steelseries and Logitech, only with higher prices and some serious quality control issues. The only headphones I can wear without being tired are Sennheiser HD555 I've had since forever and use daily, so I'm definitely looking into Sennheiser's G4ME headsets due to having the same structure as the HD555, but man the price tag and the unavailability here...

So anyway, the two Razer cases we got here, and mind you, it's from the viewpoint of someone in Finland, so it might be dfferent elsewhere:

1. Got the Kraken headset (the normal one) and straight out of the box they didn't work. There was a static-like sound without actual audio, so went back to the store and exchanged it for another pair. I requested to have them plugged in on the spot, so I don't have to come back again in case they fail too aaaand they had a problem as well with the headband adjustment thingies. Got my money back, never thought of a Razer headset again.

2. Couple of months later, the boyfriend wanted to get a new headset, so after looking and looking he stopped at the Razer Blackshark due to lack of other choices in the same price range. They seemed cool and well-built, but they also had to be returned once, because the microphone (which I have to give them credit might be the best in a Razer headset) didn't make contact when plugged in (you can remove it and use them as only headphones). The second pair worked, but for something that looks very stiff and solid built, they're incredibly flimsy and heavy on your ears, which only causes you to get tired very easily. The microphone also tends to randomly break contact when you push it up or down, or not work in general (especially with Teamspeak). In the end, they turned out to be so uncomfortable and not worth it that he had to return them. After that he ended up getting a 30 euros Fatal1ty headset that is actually way better (i've been using it every now and then too and while i wouldn't recommend it for general audio listening, it does the job for talking very well).

So yeah, pretty much similar experience like the following comment:

review is good :)

although ill give my input as well

i had these, let alone razer failed to send me a working pair (2 times, sent back the first broken pair, then they sent another broken pair) and either way i was not impressed AT ALL with the quality, they felt cheap and plastic and the felt and padding on them felt really bare let alone the sound wasnt really that great compared to past headphone experiences ive had.

also, they hurt like hell to wear, idk if im the only one that feels that way but they were super duper out of control uncomfortable for me, my head is normal, not weird shaped or anything. they felt really tight and after like a 10 minute session of playing csgo, i wanted to take them off already.

so overall, i cant recommend these

I also don't have incredibly good experience with their support when I contacted them about both cases and they sent us through hell and back and the only reason we got the issues solved was thanks to the Gigantti tech chain who apparently have had a bit of fuss with Razer products before. I even recently had to contact the Razer support about a bug with Synapse and my Nordic layout Deathstalker keyboard adding Norwegian in language bar for no reason and without showing in the language settings, which only resulted in a series of "we've escalated your issue to a specialist who will come back at you", ending in "thank you for your trust in us, you ticket has been resolved and marked as closed" while I was still waiting on potential reply.

After all that, i do like their products - keyboards and mice in particular, I just don't think some of them are really worth it and when you do need support you won't really get it from them.

Visuals should come on my next day off. Got the black model just to have, and I'll do my best to get some glamor shots. Been busy with midterms and case studies the last two-three weeks. Thanks to everyone for the feedback though :D

I have had the Kraken pros for a while now, and all I can is... they aight'

I use them mostly for tablets and such, so the most interactions I have had with the microphone is using during the odd Skype call where the Pc is unavailable. So as overpriced mobile headphones, they are pretty good. :P
