Camera setup

Hey Guys,

Can someone give me a good recommendation for a nice and cheap/budget tripod and slider? A fluid head tripod would be nice, or at least something that is fairly smooth.

I have an old tripod (VanGuard T-060220A) (yes its very old). If i can put a decent tripod head on there that is smooth...? My camera is the Canon 650D with the 18-55mm lens.

I was looking at the Neewer 32" Slider, thats around my price range for the slider. For a tripod I'm looking around £30-40.

Also, are there any good lenses for under £100 that have a nice aperture? like f1.8? I want to get that cool depth of field... But the cheapest i can find is the Canon 50mm lens... But that will be too zoomed in... maybe something around 35mm?? or even smaller...

Thanks,

Gershy13

That is some really hard stuff... proper fluid head in that price range aint gonna happen. Also for 35mm you wont need that small of an aperture for shallow depth of field... 2 or 2.8 should be enough

I don't think you can find what you're looking for at those prices. Decent fluid head is like $150 and 35 f2 is around $600 so way off on both.

Ok, so are there any tripods/heads that are not a legit fluid head, but something that is smooth enough?

Also Slider?

Any lenses that are not too far zoomed in, and have a really nice depth of field?

Thanks

for the tripod i would go for somthing like the amazon basic video tripod. Not much else that is better for the price.

as for a slider, i would build one using some parts from here if you are able. Very goo quality stuff for not too much money.

and here is a example on how one is made.

Ok, so im still not sure about the lens... but as for a slider, im looking at the Neewer 32" slider. Its not extremely expensive, but then not cheap at the same time.... It has got good amazon reviews. If you can find anything cheaper, please tell me.... I dont want to build something.... But, is there a way in the future that i can motorize it? when i get more money? or add something like a pulley system so i dont have to push it?

As for the tripod, im looking at the Velbon videomate 438/538/638 (one of them, they are very similar). It is quite nicely priced, and the reviews are good!

It might be better just to go with the head from that tripod, because you cannot detach it... i might do that instead.....

The Forums were down for some time weren't they!

Thanks

Also, if any one could find me a super cheap tripod (pref under £15) that actually works, that would be nice. My tripod is super duper old and quite broken, for instance i cant lift the head with the crank, its broken, and i cant fix it....

if i can find a really cheap tripod that is decently sturdy, and actually works that would be great!

also, if any one can find a cheaper slider than that one, please tell me!

And for the Lens, are there any cheapish lenses with a nice aperture, that is ok for b-roll and my sitting in front of it...???

EDIT: if the tripod could have the center pole crank, it should be fairly smooth and not jittery....

Thanks

you will never probably find a half decent tripod for that price £15, unless its used and someone its really trying to get rid of it, if not, it's pointless and probably can't support weight and break fairly easily.
