Windows 8.1 Not Activated

Hi

 

I recently bought a copy of windows 8.1 and installed in on my dads PC and then on my laptop. When I installed it on my laptop it did not say anything about it being invalid etc so i though i could use the key more than once. It worked fine for a few days and now when I turn on my laptop it says i need to activate windows, so i put the code in and now its saying its already been used. Why didnt it tell me that before i even installed it on my laptop?

 

If someone please tell me if I need to buy a new key or not,

When it asks for the key during install, it only checks if the key is for 8.1 and what edition. It cannot activate, because it isn't online. It activates when you have it already installed and are online. The best way to check if Windows is activated early is byc checking for the watermark. On the bootom right corner of the desktop, if it isn't activated there will be a watermark saying "Windows 8.1. Build 9600". Your key is in fact valid for only one PC.

DON'T buy another key.  Go to microsoft's website and get to the chat help.  I had the same issue and they fixed it up for me.

No. 1 license per PC. He installed it on 2 systems.

You bought 1 license, why would you be able to o install on 2 PCs?
