212 evo to aio ?

Midnitewarrior4

I have a 212 evo and I'm quite happy with it and the temps the only thing is, is that when gaming it can get kinda loud and it isn't the best cooling. My cpu is usually low 70's which is pretty good but it could be better. I was wondering if there would be a noticeable differance between the 212 evo and a coolermaster Nepton 240m ? BTW I have a i5-4690k and a nzxt h440 case

Get SSD.

And get more silent fan for your EVO.

Yes there is big difference betwen EVO and Nepton 240m but it depends on how much you really want to OC. SSD would benefit you more in my opinion.

If you don't have an SSD, I'd get that first. OR you can do this:

CPU Cooler: Corsair H75 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($64.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage: OCZ ARC 100 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $124.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I think it really depends on what your comfort zone is when it comes to temps. Personally I'd look at some different static pressure fans for you 212 that should help the noise, and spend the money on a new SSD.

I'm rocking a Nepton 240m with 4690k OC'ed to 4.4Ghz @1.145v, temps gaming I get low 50's (In something like BF4 maxed). On XTU benchmarking max temps hit 56~. This is with push/pull config.

Do you really hear it when gaming? I have 4790K cooled by 212 and I can't hear it when I am gaming, especially with headphones.

what would be a better fan ? Plz don't say noctua tho. I don't mind the colors but the price is out of my budget. 25$ plus shipping for a fan is out of the question for me

Yeee... dang it :D

What about the new Fractal Design pressure optimized fans?

I dont really know how well they perform but I have their case fans and I find them to be quite silent. I run them on 7V though, I can definitely hear them on 12V. (140mm version).

I dont even know if they have them in 120mm ... Im going to check it.

Ya right now I have the stock h440 fans in the front pinned at 100% because they don't move much air due to them being kinda choked be the front panel to I'm looking for some cheaper high pressure fans so I can run then at lower rpms

2. CRYORIG QF120 Balance PWM Fan

I think both are a worthy upgrade, avoid any 120mm rad AIO, it may cool a bit better than your 212 but 50 bucks is not for 'a bit better', maybe save a little more and get a 128gb SSD and a corsair 100i which is at 92 bucks on amazon? If you want new fans, AP121s are very decently priced at the moment and i saw AP122s for 7 bucks including shipping which is a steal, i think amazon fucked up, those are not lasting long

just looked at the spectre fans, the cheapest i can find them are 20$ plus tax. at newegg its 14$ then 8$ shiping plus tax then therews ncix with 20$ plustax and free shiping. but does that 8$ shipping at newegg count for each item or just for the set ?

Have you tried lowering your fan speed? You have some headroom with temps at low 70's.

Otherwise, you could get a NF-S12B: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-case-fan-nfs12bredux1200pwm

Or a louder but just slightly better performing fan, Silent12: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/gelid-solutions-case-fan-fnpx1215
