Building my first computer

CWSfan16

I am looking to build my first computer.

These are the parts that I am thinking about using to construct my computer:

CPU: i5-4690K

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 7

RAM: Corsair Vengence 2x4GB

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

SSD: Crucial MX100 128GB

HD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB Superclocked

Case: NZXT S340 White

PSU: Corsair CX750W 80+ Bronze

Can anybody tell me if this is a pretty solid build?  My biggest worry is that I cannot really tell a good MoBo for a crappy MoBo.

Robert

Good build, but what's your budget? Maybe getting a 970 instead of a 960?

That's not supposed to do that....

Downgrade the motherboard to an MSI or Gigabyte Gaming 5, get a better power supply (maybe a Capstone or a G2), ditch the H100i for a Cryorig H5 and get a GTX 970. Better performance all around.

As it stands, it's solid but better can probably be done for the money.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

Miscellaneous: Dell Optiplex 7060 Micro (i5-8500T/16GB/512GB), Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q Tiny (R5 2400GE/16GB/256GB), Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF (i5-6400/8GB/128GB)

go with a 4GB 960, they are a better deal.

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

Thanks a lot for the quick input...

I was trying to keep my budget in the $1000 range.

And for the size of the SSD... I was only planning on using it for a boot drive for the OS.

I will definitely look into all the suggestions that are being made...

Thanks

Well, considering that we can get a 970 under 800$ (with a bit of effort), I think it's safe to say that with 1000$ we can do it as well. Here. Enjoy it.

EDIT: I've made some changes. Just 1$ overbudget, but VERY powerfull. The GPU link can be found here. Enjoy your awesome build:

MoBo: ASUS M5A99FX

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850w 80+ gold

SSD: 2x Intel 730 series 240 GBs each

RAM: G Skill Ripjaw X 16 GBs

HDD: WD 1TB Black series

The next time you make a build, remember to consult us befor buying parts. Quite honestly, those specs are really bad, you wasted A LOT of money.
