What CPU do you have, what resolution and FPS do you want, and do you want to do anything with the card such as productivity?

I would say 970 for most needs, however we don't know what resolution you're playing at or what settings you want at the resolution.

CPU: Intel 3570 GPUs: Nvidia GTX 660Ti Case: Fractal design Define R4  Storage: 1TB WD Caviar Black & 240GB Hyper X 3k SSD Sound: Custom One Pros Keyboard: Ducky Shine 4 Mouse: Logitech G500

The 980 is the fastest .

The 970 is the second fastest but doesnt warrant the price difference since if you overclock both cards to about 1500 mhz theres a 10% difference between then.

Not worth to buy the 980 for the 200 dollar premium.

And the 960 is just crap , dont get that unless you are building a mini ITX build.

970 is the best for its cost; highest performance per dollar if you're playing 1080p. If not, the 3.5 GB of ram issue may become a problem for you if you play at higher resolutions than 1080p. In that case the 980 is king. The 960 was kind of just a budget friendly option for those who can't afford either, but it doesn't offer anything special for its price.

My recomendation:

<\= 1080p: 970

>1080p: 980

980

pro-fastest single gpu graphics card

con-price to performance

970

pro- price to performance

con-None really other then some people having issues with gta5.

960

pro- low power 120w

con- everything else about the card

So I'd suggest the 970 as Im sure the gta 5 issues will be ironed out.

I think you got it backwards ...

greater than 1080p 980.

Are you going to game on a single monitor or with three monitors? If 3 monitors I would recommend an SLI setup of some sort.

If you need a mini ITX card  the form factor its not bad.

Its best than the 285 on that scenario.

Otherwise its just better not to bother with that card at all.

For 4k I would recommend a TitanX

Because he had a hard drive.

You forget that there's a plethora of ITX builds that have full-size video cards in them, though. 980's (even 970's) would be fine in an ITX build.

Like i said if you absolutely need a ITX card for some reason .

Also depends of the case.

960 isn't really an option then if you plan to game on all 3 monitors, and definitely not for 4k unless you only play games like LoL. 980 is a pretty bad value and a single 970 isn't amazing at 4k/3x 1080 but does fine at ~medium/high respectively in most AAA titles.

But your original statement said 'build'. Plus, most of the popular ITX cases I've seen support full-length cards, so length wouldn't be an issue there.

Anyways, only reason I responded was because of the logic you were using with the 980 and 960. They're both good cards, regardless of one's opinion on them.

Good cards is subjective lol.

I don't consider them "good cards" , especially the gtx 960 with 128 bits and 2 GB of vram in 2015..

But then everyone has their opinions .

what kind of issue are 970 user having?

The issues in gta 5 are stuttering crashing and low fps. Some users aren't experiencing it so its hit and miss. I'm sure they'll have a fix soon. But I really wouldn't get a 970 if your going to play at 4k or on 3 monitors. If you plan on gaming on 3 monitors or at 4k the 980 is really the only one id recommend out of the three.

When are you planning to get the card? AMD 3xx series cards are coming soon and could bring down prices if your willing to wait.

I love how you don't link any sort of evidence to back up your statement. Heh heh

Crap, eh? http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-nvidia-geforce-gtx-960-review

The 285/280/960 all cost the same now, and saying the 960 is shit but the AMD counterparts aren't is not is quite hypocritical and illogical. The 960 circlejerk is so strong.
