Most power efficient gaming gpu?

My cousin has a gateway dx4300-01 with a 300w psu inside. I want to get him a new graphics card for his birthday (came with hd 4650). What decent performance graphics cards run only on pcie power from the motherboard? He plays LOL, gmod

GTX 750 Ti probably

What he said. Get a 750Ti. That's your best bet. After that I'd suggest looking at replacing the whole computer with a new custom build, and re-using the 750Ti.

750ti would be your best bet I think :) some of them dont even need a power connector, they take power directly from the PCIE lane

The GTX 750Ti doesn't require any extra power cables, just plug it into the PCI-E slot and ready to roll. It has quite decent performance too, certainly a lot more than the HD 4650 he currently has. Although the Asus variant does require a PCI-E 6-Pin, so do not get that one. I would recommend this one since it's a small form factor, for better compatibility in those smaller pre-built cases, and it's EVGA, who has great support in case something goes wrong. For LoL and G-Mod, the GTX 750Ti will be more than plenty. He can even play some AAA titles with some settings turned down.

depends on how much you want to spend

 

The 750 has already been mentioned but as for AMD I'd go for the R7 250 or 250X. Or a cheap GDDR5 HD 7750 if you are able to find one
