How can they give me .25 MBps and call them selves high speed internet? they advertise it as reliable and lighting fast! except we have had more than 5 un-educated technicians come out to our house ( all late ), to fix the problem for 1/2 days. one time, we even called and said we weren't getting the speeds we paid for, and the lady flat out told us they were THROTTLING our internet. she clicked a button and  5 SECONDS later our speeds tripled. Its about time to find a new isp. can anyone suggest any good ones in the San Diego area?

Is TWC available in your area? If not, then you are probably stuck with COX.

The last month we had AT&T was horrid, we had internet access on two non-consecutive days and it was for less than 30 minutes each time. It took them two weeks and three contractors who failed to show before someone came out to "fix" it. Their contractor knew fuck all and wasn't able to fix it and it was a godsend because I had been trying to convince my mom to switch ISP's for a long time but she didn't want to because we had AT&T service for almost a decade. The clusterfuck that month became was the final nail in the coffin though and she finally switched to Cox Cable, it's been a relatively problem free run since then.

I've had ATT UVerse for about 2 years now and it's been hit or miss.  Some nights it's unusable for hours at a time, but most of the time it has been pretty much as advertised.  The nice thing about my area is I can switch to another provider in a snap without any loss of performance, in fact it's probably better if I wanted to pay for it.

go with cox. i use them lol. even though i still pay the monthly 34 dollars for internet, out of nowhere, my speeds tripled from 5 mb/s to 15 mb/s and 2 mb/s upload

 

they actually aren't stupid. they are decently tech savy. and the cox people that will come to your house will do anything you request (if it's reasonable). they did some cable management for me by putting the tv wire thru the roof up the attic and come out to each rooms.
