Folding on PC and Boinc on Android?

Ok, so for a while now i have been folding on a dedicated machine, and i have been really interested in the idea of being able to do both folding and BOINC. So i think im going to move forward with using the BOINC app on my phone!

I just want to make sure that using my phone is a good idea and if its worth it. I have never done BOINC before and it seems that the easiest way to setup BOINC is on android anyway, due to the necessaty of so may option tweaking on PC.

So my main question is wether or not its worth it to do BOINC on my phone, and i guess my second question is, wether i should allow it to use both CPU cores in my andropid phone. I currently have a Droid Razer Maxx with 2 cores. Is it worth it for me to do BOINC when im not using my phone? and is it a good idea to do scince i dont have a super powerful phone? Should i allow it to use both cores on my phone for BOINC?

Collecting every single CPU in existence? Is it possible? I have no idea, but i'm sure gonna try! http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/341848-dont-throw-away-old-cpus-im-collecting/

I'm using Boinc on my phone right now. A few things to keep in mind are:

  1. Out of the 4 cores, the default setting (at least for me) was to only use 2.
  2. With all 4 cores at once, it was constantly pausing due to battery overheat.
  3. With 3 cores, it seems that it doesn't stop that often, albeit I've only seen overheating in hot days.
  4. Remember to get a project that supports it.
  5. It's only worth to install it if you are going to spend long hours charging, as the checkpoints take a long time to happen.

Yeah that would be the whole thing, my phone is on the charger like 95% of the time, as it almost never gets used for anything other then the occasional business call. so it will be charging for long periods of time.

And yeah i made sure that the project  that i am researching ofr supports mobile.

And yeah i think that the best bet for me to do this is for me to just use one core, because i only have a dual core phone. ill start with 2 cores and see if i get any overheating issues, not sure if i will or not

I always find People asking whether it's Worth it or not to be a strange question.

That leads me to ask the question, what are you looking to gain? what parameter

are you using to to weigh whether it's Worth it or not? will boincing on Your phone

contribute alot? No. Will it tear away at Your battery? Yes. Is it something you want

to do? i don't know, only you do :P. If it's something you want to do, you might

aswell do it.

Will it tear away at Your battery? Yes.

Actually, no. It only works when plugged.

Well you see, @tobben that was the question, is it worth it for me to do BOINC if its gonna be bad for my phone. is it gonna be hard enough on my phone that the little bit i would contribute isnt gonna matter because it will wreck my phone. Or on the same front, is it not gonna hurt my phones performace in the long run and i should do it even tho it doesent do a whole lot for the BOINC system?
