GTX 960

dfish292

I have recently found a GTX 960 for 180$, is it worth the price drop from the 970 to get it instead?

Edit: I do not want recommendations on getting a 280x instead I've heard those I do not want an AMD graphics card I need the low TDP. My question is purely if I should wait on the 970 or get the 960 since it is at such a low price(half of the 970 almost)

Thats a nice price for 960. It's a really good card for 1080p.

Reasons? Because everyone else says so?

No, not particularly :P

More VRAM, full bus, faster, similarly priced. Unless you have a specific need for the 960s lower power draw, then the 280X is the better choice

The 280X is by no means a hot running card with a good AIB cooler. For the sake of 5-10c, why not get the considerably faster card?

Anyway, if the OP can afford the 970 I'd say it's worth the extra over the 960. A good compromise in between the two is the 280X, 290 or 290X

Thanks.

I looked up the prices in the USA and wow... No one seems to want that thing or why are they so cheap there?

I have to easily pay 40€ more to get a 280X over a GTX 960.

Edit: 25€

Yeah, get a 280x, the 2gb vram is ridiculous on the 960, all the new games are using about 3 or more gigs but if it's a 4gb card for 180$ grab 2!
