Am I getting ripped off ?

Hello,

I have recently been looking into downgrading my GPU from a 290 to a lower tier card to make some money .

I found a guy accepting to trade my R9 290 trix for his 280x dual x + 70€ ,

Am I the big looser in this ? Looking at ebay , 280x's go for ~135€ and 290's go for ~220€

 

Do you think 70€ is ok ?

No. keep your 290. Why would you want to sell it anyway? What are you going to put the money you make towards? The 290 is a beast card, please keep it.

 

and besides, that deal is crap.

Remember ebay takes fees and then delivery costs.. If you can realistically make €90, then no it's not a good deal.. If you make 90 more but have to pay €20 in shipping / fees, then it's worth it but it's a trade.. haggle.

It's not on ebay , it's on reddit , so we cover each other's fees .

It's 70€ after tax etc

260X should run that just fine.

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

if you ask me , i would keep it for future build's.

 

If you really insist , i would do this :

 

make posts ( and when i say that , i dont mean spam in the forums ) up to 100 , then offer youre deal in the classifieds.

i tell man , the classfieds is better , you will get youre moneys worth.

I've got a deal for a 660 ti for ~70€ , will probably get that and resell the 280x or just put the money out of my pocket .

Here is the deal :

I have a stock 290x and a tri x R9 290 ;

The stock is too loud for Xfire , so I got a G10 + H55 but that doesn't fit Xfire with the trix ;

So one of the two needs to go ; the 290 tri x seemed like a better sale .

Money isn't a problem , I just don't want to have a useless 290 , would prefer having a useless 280x and 70€ :)

 

All in all , I might ask for 100€ , or sell the trix on ebay ( or as suggested keep it ) .

Your over complicating the whole thing, it doesn't matter if it's ebay or otherwise... You take what you would get for the card after any expenses, deduct what the replacement card would cost you and thats how much you ask for.. Simples.

 

You already seem to know the value of the 2 cards and if you don't, just look it up. Can't understand why you even made this.

I'd keep it. You don't know what next game to be played might need that extra performance. You'll be kicking yourself if that happens.
