Just upgraded some parts; Is it OK to overclock (CPU & GPU) ?

So I finally got around to upgrading my build a little bit and I want to do some overclocking. Just want to know if it's safe to do on my components. Mostly asking about my CPU? I'm pretty sure the GPU will be just fine.

So long as you have sufficient cooling, quality parts, and enough power it should be fine.

You have water cooling so you should be OK to start overclocking your CPU. Your GPU does not need to be overclocked because it is probably being bottlenecked anyway so overclocking won't do anything.

To be honest with you... you should have gotten an fx six core. The phenom has better IPC, but due to new instruction sets and better optimization, the fx beats the phenom in every case and not by a small margin.

Thanks. I've had my 965 for about 3 years now and have never OC'd it but im starting to see where it's running thin on a few games. Hope my first overclock goes good!

So now that I feel my CPU's OK to overclock; Does anyone know of a couple good guides/ walk throughs for this CPU??

I seen Linus' OC videos but I feel like he glosses over some of the simple stuff beginners might need to know.

just change multipliers till u get 4ghz voltage should be arround 1.45

and change ht to 2600 might have to add a little voltage to it i dont remember if i did or not and work from there should be close and run some prime to see if ur stable or not
