Fxaa vs msaa

In the gta settings there are the options for fxaa vs msaa, and i am wondering which one looks nicer, and which one gives better performace.

MSAA, looks nicer. But enabling it will drop your performance significantly. This is from experience.

FXAA better performance

just see for yourself which looks better, some prefer that some that etc.

 

FXAA has only ON/OFF option and MSAA has 2x,4x,8x

 

msaa uses lot of vram too

Well, in GTA you must have FXAA enabled, to enable MSAA. 

You can't just have MSAA on.

As already said FXAA has very little performance impact but it adds a lot of blur. I personally don't like it and turn it off. And rather deal with jaggies.

 

MSAA has a bigger performance impact. But it can make the game look a fair bit better. But I usually keep it at 2x or off in any game since FPS for me is more important.

 

If you really want AA you might want to check out SMAA injector. It's very similar effect as MSAA but it needs less performance. But there might not be a way to force it on for GTA 5. And we don't know if you can get banned for using it.

Wat?  No you don't.  FXAA can be turned off regardless of any other settings.

MSAA usually leads to me crashing I don't mess with that.
