Just out of curiosity...

Kevin_Walter

What are some of you getting temps-wise, and what are your specs? Also, if you have/could post the temps of previous cooling solutions (especially stock), it would be helpful.

I'm currently running an FX 6300 with the stock cooler and paste. Under load (at around 3800MHz according to HWM and AMD Overdrive), I'm seeing temps as high as 55c. The 6300 is supposed to be able to "Turbo Boost" to 4.1, which when forced to do so and running a Prime95 stress test, produces temps up to 70c, which is the maximum according to Overdrive.

I see a lot of reviews for things that are either along the lines of "this didn't help my temps at all", to which I'm assuming user error, and others that are like "I installed this and my temps dropped by 40c!!!11" which just seems like obvious epeen bs to me.

I'm looking into either getting something like the Hyper 212 Evo, or maybe waiting and just getting an all-in-one like a Corsair H100i.

I wouldn't get an AiO on that CPU... The cooler costs more than the actual CPU...

The 212 Evo however, is great! The Mounting hardware is garbage tho.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

I'm not sure how prices are relevant. A $120 CPU needs cooled just as much as a $300 one.

They definitely are, a $120 cpu with a $100 cooler isn't as good as a $190 cpu with a $30 cooler.

Look, if I wanted to get talked down to about the CPU I'm running, I would have gone over to /v/ and posted something about how my 6300 runs Skyrim on ultra with 300 mods and a full blown ENB.

I'm trying to gauge performance of people's various coolers here. Anything else is outside the scope of the topic, really.

The money would be better spent on getting a better cpu in the first place instead of cooling it.

Look at benchmarks?

I could look at benchmarks, sure. OR... I could ask what some people are getting with their various coolers on a forum dedicated to talking about this kind of thing.

Besides, as I said, I'm currently thinking on these things. I'm weighing the pros and cons of both, but that's not the discussion I was trying to have in this thread.

honestly i would pick up a hyper 212 evo, so you can use it no matter what you do. Should keep temps down, fan can be slightly noisy depending on you noise tolerance. Skyrim can bring everyones system to it knees :)

Edit, it not we want to talk shit about your cpu, most of us just want you to get the most for your $ and we say it in a wrong way. We lose alot of context and information when we type instead of talk face to face.

Benchmarks are probably more reliable than tests from random unregulated configurations.
