I have the Thermaltake Smart 650w. Has awful coil whine, and makes strange buzzing noises occasionally. Replacing it with an EVGA G2 750W PSU. They have black ribbon-like cables. Pretty stiff and annoying to work with.

So, in the end, I wouldn't get it.

The Thermaltake Smart 750w is a CWT PUQ-B based unit like the CX750 and TX-750M from Corsair.

It's not a bad unit, but there may be other options available. Can you provide a link to the store you are buying from, as well as your budget?

Also, the specification of the system that it will be powering would help as well.

The EVGA is a great psu as well. It is $84.99 after rebate on the above site. The XFX has hybrid fan mode like the G2 so it is still a great choice.

It's a decent psu that comes with black ribbon cables. http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001977

If you list your specs so we may be able to suggest some more appropriate alternatives.
