If money's no matter, then SSD's all the way. If money does matter, and your laptop can handle two drives, then get a decently big SSD and a decently large HDD, SSD for boot/main progs, HDD for file storage.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Oh,so basically Raid a SSD and a HDD together, yes? But if the SSD is 256GB but the HDD is 1TB(7200rpm) would that still work?

No. They have to be the exact same drive.

I'd go SSD. Then you don't have to worry about screwing up the drive by transporting it around.

Less moving parts the better in a mobile device.

Just to be sure, does your laptop have room for two drives?

Many tests have been done and there really isn't any gains to be made from going raid ssd for domestic work loads and gaming.  I'd just stick with a single ssd and if you have the second slot a larger capacity HDD for storage.

Hi there.

If you're looking for faster speed then 2 SSDs will be better option, but if you want to have more storage space then 2 HDDs will suit better. However, keep in mind that you will have faster read and write operations on your computer, but the risk of data loss with RAID 0 is bigger and because you won't have any redundancy if one of the drivees in the array dies you will lose all your stored information.

As for setting up SSD and HDD in RAID, I wouldn't recommend it since you will be limited to the speed of the slowest, with the size of the smallest drive.

Hope this helps.

Cheers! :)
