XSPC Raystorm Extreme Universal CPU Watercooling Kit w/ EX240 Radiator/750 Pump/Res

I'm thinking of buying a XSPC Raystorm Extreme Universal CPU Watercooling Kit w/ EX240 Radiator/750 Pump/Res for my Fractal Design Node 804. This is my first swim through water cooling and I'm concerned about a couple things. First, the Pump/Res is supposed to fit into 2 5.25 optical drive bays. I'm worried about compatibility since my case has no horizontal drive bays and no front slots for optical drives. I guess my follow up and real question is can I mount it to the bottom of the case as a work around since it's a dual pump/res I shouldn't have to worry about where I place it. Has anyone else tried doing a similar build?

Bay reservoirs are harder to fill (so i've been told) but are easier to mount since you can put it in a 5.25 bay. It won't matter where you place it, but I would recommend a tube res if you plan on mounting it somewhere else, or you'll have to get creative with mounting options, brackets etc.

Since you do not have 2 5.25 bays I would stay away from a bay res kit, also even though this is your first loop please get either a kit with a ddc puimp, a twin ddc pump, or a d5 pump kit. The 750 pump is lacking for future upgradeability. I just finished a build for a friend with the xsps d5 bay res kit and its a pretty nice set up, though I would change that to a tube res or a short tube res for the node if I had to build it. Now if you really need to keep costs down you can look at the phobya 240lt kit Model: PH-40183 it has a DC12 pump which is ok but it allows you to change it out in the future if your requirements change, the price of the kit only being 20 more than the xspc 750 kit it is a better option. I still recommend saving up a bit more and getting a kit with a better pump as it will save you money in the long run, but the phobya kit will definietly get you in the game with upgradeability unlike the xspc 750 kit due to the pump being housed internally to the bay and proprietary.

The kit is perfect except the original tubing and barb fittings... I started my first custom loop WC with the this xspc ex240 x2o 750 bay res... it works perfectly fine to me and no problem with bleeding air from the loop...

Mayb u need longer loop to make sure u can pull the res out for refilling...

i changed the fittings to xspc compression fittings, added ek-ddc 3.2 pwm with xspc top, release valve for bleeding the loop, primochil tubing... i left the res there (because i like the bayres by xspc) by using the original inlet as inlet and the extra g1/4 as outlet to feed the pump...

***i disconnected the power for x2o and cover up the outlet by using the plug came with the bayres

Happy with the kit and may opt for an extra 360 or 240 rad in future...
