SSD and HDD detection trouble.!

Help me out here guys, I've just installed a new 120GB kingston SSD on my pc today, and installed windows 8.1 there. and then i disconnected my original WD 320gb HDD from the motherboard and you know just unplugged both the cords and restarted the machine in order for the primary disk drive to be the ssd one. It ran beautifully even as i speak it runs faster than ever and I got 111gb from the 120gb i bought the rest i think is for stocking issues or something.

 

So, now i wanted to use this ssd as my primary memory with the windows files and the rest as in the old 320 gb one with the windows installation files as my other drive. So, windows runs through ssd and hdd is for storing data. But now it isn't detecting anything, its detecting the dvd drive and the new kingston ssd but not the WD green 320gb. I thought of rebooting it or messing with the cords to see if it was an issue of disconnection but it isn't tried different ports too didn't workout.

 

Where have i gone wrong in this process?

 

I checked the "Manage" devices property from my computer icon and its conclusive proof that my computers not detecting the other drive, no matter what i do.

 

I want to run the windows 8.1 on ssd and then plugin in the hdd and delete the windows files from that hdd so it'll run windows from the ssd and load the stored files from the hdd.

 

Help me out guys, im really desperate on this.

 

Motherboard: Intel DG41RQ

Processor: Intel DualCore 2.7ghz

RAM: 2gb DDR2

Graphics card: nvidia 9400GT

 

I plan on upgrading the entire system and this is just frustrating...

have you tried looking in the bios for it? if it doesn't show up there, tit is either fauly or something is wrong with the cords

Right click on the Windows icon, select Disk Management.

 

Does the WD drive appear there ?

Go into disc management and check if it is displayed there.

If it is it may be displayed as unallocated space.

You guys are absolutely brilliant. I checked if it was appearing in the bios or not. turns out it wasn't so had to follow Gen's rule above and replace the cables. Turns out it was the fault of the cables. and now its alright as all the others are appearing now and its quite easy to handle things as everythings reponding as they should be.! )
