Using the Chrome plugin, odd folding speeds?

I've started using the Chrome plugin this afternoon for folding on my laptop and overclocking rig, and I've noticed that the E6500K is only 4-5 minutes faster than the T2600 in my laptop, even though the E6500K is at 3.8GHz. Is something wrong? Or is this normal with the Chrome plugin?

The chrome plugin assigns smaller units then the desktop version does, so in this case, your laptop probobly got assigned a much smaller, and simpler WU. Therefore it probobly worked alot faster or the same speed as a bigger, more complicated WU on the desktop app. Hope that makes sense.

Collecting every single CPU in existence? Is it possible? I have no idea, but i'm sure gonna try! http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/341848-dont-throw-away-old-cpus-im-collecting/

Your desktop cpu should be getting far more points than the laptop even with the fewer larger WUs

4-5 minutes out of how long exactly? if it's 5 minutes faster than a 10 min

total that is a 50% improvement. If it's 5 min faster out of a 100 min total

that is a 5% improvement. The chrome wu's are pretty dammn small so

a 4-5 minute improvement could be alot depending on your settings.

The WU is the same though.

The total time for the WU is about 40 minutes on my laptop, and I haven't noticed any specific settings either. Just 'folding as', 'team' and 'passkey'.

No, chances are they aren't. They may both be one WU but the chrome plugin won't give anywhere near the same size units as the desktop will. One WU can be big or small, and may be worth a lot more or less points then another, that's just random.

Chances are your getting much simpler units on the chrome client.

They are both running the chrome client (though I do have the desktop client open for the 650 ti), which is why I'm asking if anythings wrong-in everything else the Pentium is a lot faster than the Core Duo.

bout 17%? does indeed seem like the difference between those cpu's

should be bigger, there should be light medium and full intensity settings.

Some wu's do use some cpu resources, the desktop client will reserve

a thread for the gpu slot. You could try closing the desktop client and

see how much of a difference it makes.

I thought it was AMD cards that needed free CPU resources? And I couldn't see those settings until I re-installed chrome.

Both NVidia and AMD require CPU resources when GPU folding. Typically AMD needs more, but is also depending on the specific WU you get.
