If you are new to CS just play a shitton of deathmatch, once your aim is on point you should get as high as MGE/DMG, at that point you need to learn theory (basic strats, smokes, flashes etc.)

There are tutorial style videos for learning how to control your aim with different weapons. Even older ones made for 1.6 and source will do since basics have stayed the same. Like recoil and spread.

just my honest opinion, but I feel WarOwl's tutorials only go over the basics and not more of the advanced stuff like how to peek an awper, how to shoulder peek, when to smoke, flash or nade. For example, his awping tutorial says to stop, scope, flick, and shoot. If you were to use this strategy in comat, you'd die before you'd even scope. He does not talk about pre-aiming. If I'd known of these things when I was silver, maybe I'd reach MG2 alot sooner haha

 

I'd actually recommend watching some of the professional players streams. If you pay attention to how they play, you'll have alot of the tactics part of the game mastered. 

 

 It all depends on you're abilities and what kind of skills you lack. Figure out what skills you lack, and work on mastering them. I remember when I was new, the biggest problem I faced was running and gunning. No matter how much I tried, in the spur of the moment, I would forget to stop and shoot and would just shoot while running. While this worked with the P90 somewhat, I would still bottom frag and was stuck at SEM. Practicing alot really helped but i still find myself running and gunning a lot on the Terrorist side because of the large amount of movement required in rushes and splits.

 

Of course, just my two cents. Like I said, find your flaws, and master them. Do this and you'll be a Global in no time haha

While I have obviously not seen every warowl video, If you wach a couple of his videos he actually quiet often mentions more advanced techniques, like the shoulder peaking you mentioned. While it might not have been a part of his how to awp video you referenced, part of making a good tutorial is keeping it simple so that beginners at the game (which is obviously the main group of people that a video called a tutorial is ment for) are not overflowed with to much information at once.

Once you reach a certain level of skill in csgo the only thing thats going to help you improve further is to practice and to keep playing with the same team of 5 players, cause people who work together regularly, funktion together well as a team. As the know how to communicate with each other and know each others playstyle and how to help them out best.

Though you wouldn't think of it when you first start out, slowly you would eventually realise that a single shot to the head when the opponent does not have a helmet will kill him with almost any weapon.

He said he would teach me a bit of the game with some 1v1 aim_map. This really helped my understanding of viewing angles and wallbanging and to listen to footsteps. Dare I say, more than a video could.

 

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying you shouldn't completely rely on tutorials and play the game more by yourself. There's alot that a video cannot teach you but real gameplay could.

Play with friends as good as you. Make sure you get the right sensitivity people think high is good but lower is better I play at 0.55 at 1800 dp. Finding a good sensitivity with aim practice will make your aim good.

WarOwl is bad. The things he teaches may get you out of silver but they fall of after nova and just become bad habits.

 

Best way to rank up is to suck it up and play, learn from watching pros. I'd suggest adren's videos but watching them wont make you better just have to practise and use what he teaches.

Do your aim prac and play as five you will get to DMG easily. As a LE I feel like I won't be able to rank up any higher. Just not enough talent.

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying you shouldn't completely rely on tutorials and play the game more by yourself. There's alot that a video cannot teach you but real gameplay could. 

 

WarOwl's tutorials, you're correct, are for beginner players. There's no denying that. Heck, WarOwl himself even admits that to be the case as his channel is "To help new players get into CS." as he put it into simple terms when I spoke to him after the Steel incident. If you don't know what I am talking about, this was a big hoohar from Steel to WarOwl about his most recent AWP video at the time. But that's beside the point. The point is, you're correct. For me, my favourite videos from WarOwl now are currently his One More Round videos that's more of a small podcast about what has been happening and his thoughts on CS. 

 

However, videos and tutorials can help in a massive way, maybe not to how to push corners, something that a lot of people don't actually know how to do correctly, but when it comes to smokes, flashes and general nade advice, there are so many of those videos to help out people on YouTube, it's hard to count. I generally use tutorials to brush up on my techniques. Say for example if I am doing something wrong and I cant put my finger on it, I will go and search something related to how to play a certain way, it helps me at least to figure out what I have been doing wrong.

One tip, never pick up a pros playing style, invent your own. Be that random player that actually outplays it's opposition. I am a SMFC and played in CEVO-M and ESEA-O, I actually found it really easy to predict people, awpers mostly, they all used to try to play like JW, same spots and all. AKs used to like to hold the SAME angle, for example on D2 the headshot spot on ramp. Nuke on the ramp going to lower head glitching, mirage left side windowed crouched down or crouched in Connector. Cache gene/headshot/Fork and above fork. Inferno crouching at the end of car. It's just too eazy, I could prefire everyone almost everytime that's only as T, on CT it's even EASIER to predict the Ts just in short, don't try to play like a pro, invent your own style! Peak like GOD himself. It's gonna be hard but there are different ways to peak each corner, just don't be that guy who crab walks out scoped with AWP. Also another tip, learn to trace heads, I see a lot of people struggle. Also spraying. Don't spray too much, that's where I started to lose my touch.1 tap is the only way . Good lucK! When you get to Nova level or so (Nova 2) join CEVO, when you get to MGE to DMG join ESEA.

I myself played for a long time and got out of Silver.

You will naturally learn how to play the right way. 

If you really want to get out of Silver, unfortunately learning strats and so called tips will not help. The only thing that will help you get out of silver is having a great aim. Strats will never work in silver because many tend to not follow them or refuse to do so. 

 

Queue up with higher rank friends (though some are unwilling to do this because they value their rank which has no mean). This is the best way to get out and also learn at the same time. You will most likely play with better people but it will be a learning experience.

I started at Silver Elite back in August last year. Right now I'm DMG, but the highest I've been was LE. 

 

#1 - Practice. Practice. Practice. 

I would play Death Match at least once a day, even on days I wouldn't play comp. 

I also practiced with lower sensitivities and different settings until I got to where I was comfortable at.

Also, learn some simple smokes. Knowing some useful smokes will turn the tide of the game. A well placed window smoke on Mirage will shut down that pesky AWP and will let your team split B and get an easy round. 

 

#2 - Play with friends. 

You need to learn the team aspect of this game too. Learn the common tactics for maps with your friends. Are you playing dust2? You and your friends should figure out good ways to split A or do a mid to B, and so on. It's really hard to organize good team play, especially at the silver level, with random players.

 

#3 - Don't blindly copy the pros.

GeT_RiGhT's config isn't going to magically make you great at the game. Copying ScreaM's sensitivity and resolution won't magically make you into a headshot machine. You need to be comfortable playing the game. Forcing yourself to play using someone else's settings will only harm you.

My advice is play deathmatch and complete the archivement for each weapon. Its make you use to it.

Then play arms race to make you play faster.

Play DM on source for 50 hours, then play DM on CS:GO for 80 hours.

 

Then realize comp isn't just for mlg's (silly me.) and play it.

 

And destroy everyone.

 

Finally GN2 and still called a smurf.

You know you're good when you carry a Gold nova master game with 44 kills.

This might sound weird but CSGO is mostly a mind game. Once you build a muscle memory and recoil control for every gun then you can start comping. Try meditating or eating before you play, play in comfy clothing, and make sure you are not too hot or too cold. When you are having a good day you also play better. Weird but these all help.

This is very true. I got LE on a new smurf account by doing this, LE is not SUPER hard for me, I can still do good in it even though im not used to playing with and against good players. And on my main I am GN4, almost MG1 (Usually play with MG1s anyways).

 

Also if I were you I would practice a few main weapons, I must have like at least 50+ hours worth of DM just on the AWP. That's how I am so amazing with it. I used to be REALLY good back when I was silver, but then I took a leave from CS:GO. I think if I play lots of DM again I could be Junior KennyS again. As it is, my sensitivity changed and I got a new mouse so that takes awhile to get used to. Practice the following:

 

- AK47

- M4A4/M4A1S

- AWP

 

Even if you do not want to play AWP, it really helps your aim get better and you learn how to do flickshots and various other skills you can apply to other guns.

just over 300hrs total in game, started at Silver II (i rushed straight into MM) my first CS game ever, but now i am GNM and on the very verge of getting MG1.

 

In Nova-MG1, this is when you should be learning game sense and really have your aim on the ball.
