Monitor not showing native resolution?

Ishenferi

First I'd like to say I hope this topic isn't a problem. I had tried to get this answered under "Quick Question", but I assume many people aren't looking at it because the problem isn't specified in the title.

I just got my BenQ GW2765HT, which I have hooked up to my laptop. The laptop runs off a Radeon 8550G, which is supposed to give a max resolution of 2560x1600. However, upon plugging in my monitor via HDMI, I'm not able to choose 1440p at all. Using Custom Resolution Utility, I can raise it to 2288x1430, but for whatever reason it won't let me make it any higher. Can anyone help me with this?

Shouldn't the max resolution be 1600p, why are trying to run it at 1440p? Did you check the if your HDMI port on your laptop supports higher resolutions?

They're the latest drivers.

The monitor is a 1440p monitor. How do I find what the HDMI port of my laptop supports?

He's the one who told me to use CRU, but hopefully he can shine some light on this.

the max resolution you get probably also at max frequency at that resolution (ex: RxR @ 75Hz)
