Hard Drive Help pls!

Pumbah

So I'm planning to build my dream computer and have all the components together except I'm now having second thoughts on what Hard Drive is better for just casual use, gaming, editing and potential Twitch.tv streaming, the Seagate Barracuda (2tb) or the Western Digital WD Green (2tb)?

No need to put booting up the OS into the equation, my SSD is going to be used for that. :)

Thanks for all the help and suggestions to come.

The hard drive doesn't really affect performance

If I had to pick one, it would be the Seagate barracuda.

My barracuda has been going strong for 9-10 years now, hard drive sentinel says it still has 3+ years on its life :)

My second barracuda has been going for 4 years, also with 3+ left on its life

I've never used WD, but they are a reputable brand

How about a wd black? but out of those two I would go for the seagate as wd greens are more for storage.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion but that is out of my budget price range :(

Hey Pumbah,

Since you have the SSD for your OS and more demanding applications and games, the hard drive wouldn't affect your performane that much. It would have an impact over whatever you run, stream or use from that HDD. WD Green is a great, cool and quiet drive designed specifically for secondary storage. It has high-enough speeds to stream videos and it is a energy-saving drive.

As it was mentioned, you could also have a look at WD Black and WD Red for larger storage capacities and better performance, if you need it.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
