I manually control the temps on my GB R9 270 and have the fans turned off at idle and only spin them up when its hits 65+ even when playing Crisis 3 under max load the temp only hits 70 Celsius but the fans are fully spooled up by then.

Would be interested to know if this flashing will work on an AMD platform video card?   Any thoughts ?

Nice, now I won't have my G1 Gaming bellowing in my ear (noise canceling headphones-they don't work for me, and my new case leaks less sound than my old one).

It does. I used the Kepler-Bios-Tweaker instead of the Maxwell one, but it works fine.

But you have to check the temps. My 780Ti (reference) gets too hot, with the fan off. It's temps go slowly up, till you just have to turn on the fan. And as Linus said: A Fan that goes on/off is annoying - Even if it only ramps up every 20minutes for 2-3 minutes. And your GPU will get damaged in the long term. While temps around 60°C in idle aren't that bad, constantly changing temps are.

I think open airflow cooler are much better for this "passive mode", since they have usually around twice as much surface area and get some airflow from other fans in the system. So if your 780Ti isn't a reference one, it's might worh a try.

TY for originally posting it, I've just managed to get the mod working. Its the same for keppler isn't it, except with the kepler bios tweaker?

As far as I know yea it should work as long as there's no hardware fan speed limiter.

Out of curiosity, does this apply to the GTX 750 and 750 ti?

Cause last time I checked both these cards runs on the Maxwell architecture. I have an EVGA GTX 750Ti SC which the lowest fan rpm is 42% and is beyond loud in my system when I sleep at night.

Looking for someone to tell me if this guide works or not before I attempt to break my card :D

Thanks, I have the gtx 780ti DirectCU II form asus... I think it will work well.. My main problem with the card is that the fans only can be turned down to 40 percent! The bios tweak will change that :D

hey could you please tell my which version of the keplar bios tweaker you have used? I have version 1.27 and eventhough my fans run at min 40% the bios tweaker say they run at min 10%.

Thanks for your help!
