A 970 can do 4K just fine, sure some settings will need reduced, but it can produce an enjoyable experience at such a high resolution.

Sure its not the absolute best option out there, but its still a great choice.

Why would one do that? The 290s beat the 980 by a significant amount, and in 4K you need every drip of performance you can get

This is what I would do... 16 gb of ram is overkill... might go with 8 gb + an SSD for windows

Well it doesn't always scale well, and not all games can use crossfire. They are a better option than the 980 though unless heat output is important
