April Fools!

I got home only 30 minutes before the end of april fools EST, just enough time to photoshop and post this (my laptop really is dead, and I'm just now switching to my backup laptop), and @Misanthrope wouldn't let me have even two hours of fun

I will mention, however, that I did seriously consider a mac.

"Just work" and "Just don't get viruses" should have been easy to tell. Surprised it didn't cause more flaming....I ALMOST said "I'm buying another alienware" but I doubt anyone would have believed it.

As many of you know, I owned an m18x that I got used a long time ago. I no longer gamed on it, and it became the machine I used for web editing and photo work. Recently, I was at a friend's apartment (duplex?) and a power surged killed my laptop, his laptop dying instantly, and mine over the course of a few days. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it resulted from some power issues, and the fact that we found out (after we had to hit the breaker) that his brother had daisy chained power strips.

This cause me a lot of inconvenience, and despite having the important things backed up, having to order and set up a new machine with all of the tools and software I use is an inconvenience.

So, I decided I needed something reliable for my professional work. I decided to get a macbook pro, since i have a desktop to game on. It's light, wont get viruses, and has parallels. It is costly, especially seeing I needed the 1TB option, but I feel it will pay off in the long run.

after all of the problems I had with that last laptop, I'm done buying PCs unless it's for gaming. I know everyone is going to argue me because everyone here is a mac hater, but it's too late, I already ordered it.

I'll post pictures and a review soon after I get it.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

btw dont believe the "macs cant get viruses" bullshit

its not true

you can still get viruses if you download something thats infected or you download a virus itself

also its not more reliable than PC...

both are computers, both can be screwed up, but if you take care of it, both PC and mac will work perfectly fine

one is not better than the other

I thought you purchased the Macbook for editing. And I would have just had a seizure, but you got the MBP, which is a laptop that actually makes sense. But seeing that priced, I can still say that the Sony VAIO Z was not actually overpriced, people just let Apple get away with whatever they want.

As I always say, you gotta get the best you can for the dosh your able to spend, if a mac is the cheapest device that fills your requirements then that's the logical choice.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

thats cause they are very idiot-proof

hard for the tech-dumb people to screw up the OS

if youre smart with a PC you can keep it in perfect condition

but a lot of people find every way possible to screw it up so it seems like its much worse than OSX

Apples can be expensive, especially the Honey Crisp variety. People hate on them because you can get pears for cheaper and they do the same thing  :D
