Sony's Kills Playstation Home

GoodBytes

Sony has quietly killed PlayStation Home

playstation-home-logo_story.jpg

PlayStation Home was supposed to be a community hub in the form of a Sims like game, where you can meet people. The service was rarely used by people, and didn't form the way it wanted. Sony was also expected to sale digital furniture and house/apt to fill them in, and create your own place.

Yesterday, Sony released an update on the PlayStation 3 that killed off the service.

Surprising it lasted that long honestly. I did try it back in the days but it was so slow to get in there. That and the fact that it was pointless :)

I've played it a bit to get all the trophies, it was quite slow and clunky.

Am wondering how many people were actually on it

it was a wonderful concept, my 11 year old self actually bought 40 bucks worth of stuff on there. if the connection issues were not present it would be much better.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

So what happens to everyone who paid for in game items?

S.O.L.?

It was fun shortly after the beta if you met up with 'glitchers'. Groups of people that were esentially looking for exploits to have their avitars acess areas in the game spaces that they should not have been able to get to.

Once the devs cracked down on that I stopped using it, as did a lot of others who were online it a lot.

Was a cool community for awhile anyways.

They say Sims but from what I saw it looked close to SecondLife and I mean if you wanna play SL just get on SL... It's free...

I wouldn't doubt if it's being redesigned for Morpheus VR. Where it might actually be cool.

yeah!!  I remember using it a few times, but what killed it for me was the loading times from area to area.  Also, it took forever for the other avatars to fully render.  All in all good riddance.

I used it for like an hour on my PS3. It was really strange, boring and pointless in my opinion. There wasn't much you could do.
