Asus Xonar DGX

optic_Vithu

Hey guys, I have recently ordered this off amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007RMMYFI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

My only problem is I'm quite nooby when it comes to computers and I don't like going deep into a PC by installing wires and etc.

With this sound card can I just plug it in, screw it all in. Change the front panel audio to my sound card one and carry on?

my main question is do I need the floppy power cable thing?

Its a plug and play ordeal, put it in and install the drivers.

Any reason you bought it in the first place?

Its cheap, and apparently better the an onboard sound too. So I thought why not. Would I need to power this card? tho for example like the small floppy disk connectors

It doesn't need an extra power supply. Just whatever it will draw from the PCI-X slot.

As to 'better than onboard', that depends on the existing onboard, and what you're expecting. But I'd say, it's actually about the same, with some trade-offs. DGX got a built-in headphone amp that may got bigger power than onboard. Keep in mind there are a lot of onboards these days that also got built in headpone amp, especially on 'gaming oriented' mobos. Personally I found the built in amp is a bit noisy. Maybe because of EMI in the case tho.

A 1x card can go in a 1x, 4x, 8x and 16x slot, so plug it in one that's not being used, install the drivers and you should be golden!

Yeah, right guys? Guys?
